Somerton Southern Cemetery clean up set
Clean up of the Somerton Southern Cemetery will begin in preparation of the upcoming mowing season.  It is asked that all grave blankets, floral decorations, and other decorative things from the year before be removed by April 1st 2014.

Spring Luncheon April 4th  at First Christian Church

The St. Clairsville American Legion Post #159 is holdings its second annual “WELCOME HOME AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE” for Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans on March 29, 2014 in front of Belmont County Court House at 11 a.m.
The public is encouraged to attend and give these men and women the WELCOME HOME and THANKS they deserve.

Somerton VFD fish fry
The Somerton Volunteer Fire Department will be holding Coleman’s Fish Fry fund raisers on Friday, April 4th, 11th, and 18th.   Fish dinners, sandwiches, sides and desserts will be available from 4-7 p.m. each Friday.  Eat in or carry out.  Orders may be called in at 740-757-2565 during serving hours.

The Ohio Valley Depression & Bipolar Support Group meets April 2nd and also monthly on the first, second, and fifth Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Wheeling Jesuit University in Whalen Hall.

A benefit dinner for Vicki White-Cline will be held on May 3, 2014 in the Belmont gym in Belmont, Ohio from 3 - 7 p.m.

Snack with the Easter Bunny/Vendor Show
A Snack with the Easter Bunny/Vendor Show will be Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Clairsville Recreation Center located at 102 Fair Avenue (off South Sugar Street).  Proceeds will benefit the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 5356.  There’s a fee of $3 per child to enjoy snack and games with the Easter Bunny.

OES Inspection April 1
Barnesville Chapter No. 206 Order of the Eastern Star will hold its Inspection of Officers on Tuesday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m.  The Inspecting Officer will be Carol Warsinskey, Deputy Grand Matron of District 15.  Officers should be present at 6:30 p.m., and all members are urged to attend.

4-H frozen food sale orders accepted until April 1
4-H Frozen Food Sale orders are being accepted until April 1. Orders will be picked up on April 17th at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.  Customers can contact the Monroe County Extension Office at 740-472-0810 for an order form.  The sale offers a variety of frozen fruits with and without sugar, pie shells, vegetables, potatoes, meats, appetizers, fish, breads, desserts, and convenience food items.  Many items are great for baking or handy for busy families on the go.

Square dance March 29 in Miltonsburg
A square dance will be held on March 29, 8 - 11 p.m., sponsored by St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in the parish hall in Miltonsburg, Ohio.  Music will be provided by Deep Down Country.  The public is invited.

Mothers Club hosting 2014 Grand March
The Barnesville Mothers Club will be hosting the 2014 Grand March on Saturday, April 12, promptly at 4:15 p.m, in the Barnesville High School Auditorium.
Students attending prom will be organized in the band room and their names will be announced as they come across the stage. The stage will be decorated and this will provide the community with an opportunity for everyone to see all of the gorgeous students dressed up !
Doors to the auditorium will open at 3:45 p.m.  No early entry or saving seats, please.  Students will be called in the order they arrive.

Eagles Aux. 4252 Coleman’s Fish Fry
The Eagles Auxiliary 4252, 137 E. Main St., will be having a Coleman’s Fish Fry every Friday through Lent beginning at 11 a.m. Cost will be $5 for a fish sandwich and $8 for a fish dinner, including fries and cole slaw. Profits will be used to support varies Eagles’ charities. The public is welcome and carry-out is available. To place an order, call 425-1217.

 Tack swap and flea market April 26th
A tack swap for all animals, along with a home and farm flea market will be held at the Belmont County Fairgrounds on April 26th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  On the same day, starting at noon, we will have a chicken dinner followed by a square dance from 7 to 10 p.m. featuring the local group Deep Down Country.  Tickets for the chicken dinner are $10 and may be purchased in advance by calling 740-296-0067.  Admission to the square dance is $4 at the dance.   Individuals and vendors are welcome to participate in the flea market ,and currently plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces are still available.   For additional information or to reserve a space regarding space rental, you may call 740-296-0067.
A local tack dealer has already committed to attend the event, along with a greenhouse that will offer hanging baskets and flower flats for sale to the public.  Proceeds from the event will be used to make improvements at the Horse Arena at the Belmont County Fairgrounds.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2792 serving dinners
The VFW Ladies Aux. Post 2792 will be serving fish or shrimp dinners with fries and slaw for $7 per dinner every Friday from 5-7 p.m., starting March 7 and ending April 11. An alternate meat dish will be available each week. Everyone is welcome. Carry out is available by calling 425-9141.

Bunco Party March 30th
The St. Joseph Catholic Women’s Club is hosting a Bunco Party on Sunday, March 30 at  St. Anthony’s Hall, Bridgeport, Ohio. The doors open at 1 p.m. and  lunch will be  served from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Games begin at 2 p.m.

Dancing For A Cause meets each Thursday
Want to have fun, exercise and help local charities and organizations? The Dancing For A Cause group continues to hold classes each Thursday from 6-7 p.m. in the Grange Hall building on Shamrock Drive. Women and men of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join them. They learn a new dance each week, but also review learned dances.
All money collected is donated to local organizations. The group’s latest donation went to the Tri County Women’s Help Center. Past donations have been made to the Barnesville Elementary School for school sup- plies, a meals on a wheels program, the    summer lunch program, the Junior Women’s Club food drive for St. Vincent DePaul, relief efforts for victims of Superstorm Sandy, The Haven, Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library and 3Cs Cancer Support Group and the Somerton United Methodist Church rebuilding fund. WIC walk-in clinic in Bellaire
The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics every Thursday in Bellaire only.  The hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Bellaire WIC office is located in the Case Bank building on the 4th floor, Room 402.  
New clients need to bring proof of address proof of income, proof of pregnancy and identification for themselves and newborns.  Clients who need recertified will need proof of income and their WIC Folders.  The WIC folders are needed for coupon pick-up also.  WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breast-feeding and provides nutrition education to its clients.  Women who are pregnant, breast-feeding, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years old qualify.  Working families are encouraged to apply.  For more information call 740-676-2232.
