The Ohio Valley Depression & Bipolar Free Support Group meets monthly on the first, third, and fifth Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. at Wheeling Jesuit University in Whalen Hall.
This is a free peer led group lead by a facilitator. It is up to you if you want to verbally participate in the group.

Barnesville Exempted Village School District board meeting Nov. 21
Notice is hereby given that there will be a regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Barnesville Exempted Village School District on Thursday, November 21 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be located at the Barnesville Exempted Village School’s Middle School Cafetorium to discuss all matters deemed necessary by the Board and the Superintendent.
Fresh greens workshop Dec. 12
Wheeling Civic Garden Center, Oglebay Park, will present a workshop entitled Fresh Green Arrangements and Wreaths on Thursday, December 12, at 10:30 a.m.
Come join us for this holiday tradition. We will be instructing on how to create fresh noble fir wreaths and mixed pine arrangements. We will adorn with bows, berries, candles, birds, and any other accessory that might brighten your holiday table arrangement or wreath. We must have your paid reservation of $25 by December 2nd to ensure that enough pine will be available for all who attend. Your total cost will vary according to materials selected. Spaghetti dinner Dec. 3
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Barnesville High School American History classes will be sponsoring a spaghetti dinner at the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $7 and take out will be available. Dinner includes spaghetti, bread, salad and a drink. Desserts will also be available. Proceeds will benefit the trip to Washington D.C. in April. A Victorian Visit with Father Christmas Nov. 23
On Saturday, November 23, Father Christmas will visit the Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum. This cherished tradition of Victorian Christmas Past dates from early nineteenth century. Father Christmas will listen to the wishes of children from 3-6 p.m. In the Spirit of Christmas, we are asking each child to bring one canned food item which will be donated to the local food bank.

Victorian Christmas Tea Dec. 6
To celebrate the beginning of the Christmas holidays, bring your family and friends and enjoy a Victorian Tea in the splendidly decorated Victorian Mansion Museum. The Belmont County Historical Society is sponsoring a Christmas Tea on Friday, December 6 at the Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum, 532 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville. Due to popular demand, this year there will be two seating’s for the tea. The first seating will be at 11 a.m. and the second seating at 2 p.m.. The fee is $15. The public is invited. The tour fee is extra.

Flushing tree lighting Nov. 30
The WQED Pittsburgh Puppet Works will headline the annual tree lighting event at the Flushing Fire Hall on Sat., Nov. 30, 2013. The Business Association is honored to announce that this year’s program will include the flag raising and tree lighting at 5 p.m. followed by music from professional singer Hayley Watson. The fantastic WQED Pittsburgh Puppet Works will perform their “Holiday HO HO HO Puppet Show” especially for you at 6:15. There will be Christmas finger puppets and gift bags for the kids, as well as cookies, hot chocolate and fruit for everyone. 200th Anniversary Mugs will be for sale and Christmas packaging will be available. November Jr. Women’s Club Meeting Nov. 20
The Barnesville Jr. Women’s Club will hold its November meeting, Wednesday, November 20. The club will begin the meeting with it’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
Member and associate members are encouraged to attend and bring a guest. Following the dinner, Olney Friends School will have a special International Affairs Program. Club members are reminded to bring a covered dish and place setting.

Belmont County PERI meeting Nov. 20
Belmont County PERI Chapter #79 will hold the last meeting of 2013 on Wednesday, November 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the J.B. Martin Center (Rec Center) in St. Clairsville.
Election of officers will be held for 2014. All Belmont County public employee retirees are invited to attend.

Chamber lighted Christmas parade Dec. 7
The Barnesville Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 2013 Christmas Craft Fair and Parade on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The lighted parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Parade line-up will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Barnesville High School. Entries must use Christmas lights. Trophies will be awarded in three categories for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for all entries. Entry. No registration fee is required for the parade. Santa Claus will be available to visit with children after the parade at the Barnesville Elementary School in the gymnasium.
Earlier that day, the craft fair will be held at the Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Merchandise available from the crafters will include fruit cake, fudge, cookies, jewelry, floral arrangements, homemade ornaments, signs, wall hangings, quilts and pillows.
FFA donkey basketball game Nov. 20
Barnesville FFA alumni will be hosting a donkey basketball game Wednesday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium. Doors will open at 6:30 and the games will start at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8 per person. Pre-sale tickets will be available until 3 p.m. game day in the high school office for $6. Children 4 years old and younger will be admitted free of charge. Free donkey rides will be given for children 12 and under during intermission. Buckeye Donkey ball of Columbus, Ohio will be providing the donkeys. Buckeye has been in business since 1934 and is the oldest and largest donkey ball company in the world.

The 8th Annual Woodsfield Christmas Festival in Woodsfield, Ohio will be Saturday, December 7. Batesville Sportsman’s Club turkey shoot every Sunday
The Batesville Sportsman’s Club, State Route 147 west to Grant Moore Road (signs will be posted) will have a turkey shoot every Sunday through December beginning at noon.
Dancing For A Cause meets each Thursday
Want to have fun, exercise and help local charities and organizations? The Dancing For A Cause group continues to hold classes each Thursday from 6-7 p.m. in the Grange Hall building on Shamrock Drive. Women and men of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join them. They learn a new dance each week, but also review learned dances.
All money collected is donated to local organizations. The group’s latest donation went to the Tri County Women’s Help Center. Past donations have been made to the Barnesville Elementary School for school sup- plies, a meals on a wheels program, the summer lunch program, the Junior Women’s Club food drive for St. Vincent DePaul, relief efforts for victims of Superstorm Sandy, The Haven, Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library and 3Cs Cancer Support Group and the Somerton United Methodist Church rebuilding fund. Barnesville Veterans Service office reopened
The Barnesville satellite office of the Belmont County Veterans Service Commission has re-opened for business. The office, located at 113 W. Main St., Barnesville, is open Tuesdays and Thursdays. The office phone number is 740-619-0326.
WIC walk-in clinic in Bellaire
The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics every Thursday in Bellaire only. The hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Bellaire WIC office is located in the Case Bank building on the 4th floor, Room 402.
New clients need to bring proof of address proof of income, proof of pregnancy and identification for themselves and newborns. Clients who need recertified will need proof of income and their WIC Folders. The WIC folders are needed for coupon pick-up also. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breast-feeding and provides nutrition education to its clients. Women who are pregnant, breast-feeding, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years old qualify. Working families are encouraged to apply. For more information call 740-676-2232.
