Food drive for St. Vincent DePaul
The Junior Womens Club of Barnesville/OFWC/GFWC is sponsoring a food drive for St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry on Friday, Nov. 2 (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 3 (9 a.m.-2 p.m.) at Riesbecks in Barnesville. Pre-made, $5 and $10 bags of food will be available for purchase. Donations of other foods and money in any amount will also be accepted and appreciated. Club members will be outside the store to collect the donations. The donations will help stock the pantry for the upcoming holiday season. Junior Womens Club will begin the drive with a purchase of 30 bags. Other groups or individuals who would like to purchase bags can contact Rodona Dunfee at 425-1587 or Nancy Detling at 425-3418.
Barnesville Street Department leaf pick up offered
The Street Department will once again pick up laves that are bagged and left curbside by residents of the Village of Barnesville. Bags must contain leaves only and will be picked up as time allows. No specific schedule will be followed. Bagged leaves may be dropped off by residents at the East End of the Depot parking lot.
9th Annual BBM Rotary Spaghetti Dinner Oct. 26
The 9th Annaul Bethesda-Belmont-Morristown Rotary Clubs Fund raising spaghetti dinner including spaghetti, meatballs, salad, drink and dessert, prepared by Mark Glass Catering and sponsored in part by McDonalds, will be held on Friday Oct. 26, 2012 from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Union Local High School Commons prior to the St. Clairsville vs. Union Local football game. Cost is $6 per person. Children under the age of five eat for free.

Belmont American Legion meeting Belmont American Legion Post 312 will have their last regular meeting of the year, Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the post home in Belmont.
United Way - Bubbles for Baubles
The United Way Bubbles for Baubles event will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 at Undos West in St. Clairsville. Cocktail hour, dinner, silent auction, music and one lucky winner of a 0.6 carat round diamond pendant.
Each guest receives a numbered glass of champagne. One will be the winning glass.
Cost is $75 per person and all proceeds benefit The United Way of The Upper Ohio Valley.

WIC walk-in clinics offered
The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics every Wednesday in Bellaire. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The St. Clairsville office is located at the Belmont County Health Department and the Bellaire clinic is located in the Chase bank building. New clients need to bring proof of address, proof of income, proof of pregnancy and identification for themselves and newborns. Clients who need recertified will need proof of income and their WIC folders. The WIC folders are needed for coupon pick-up also. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breast feeding and provides nutrition education to its clients. Flushing United Methodist soup and sandwich luncheon Nov. 6
An Election day soup and sandwich luncheon will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Flushing United Methodist Church, 301 Main St., Flushing. The menu will include chicken sandwiches, sloppy Joes, vegetable, chicken noodle and bean soups, corn bread, a variety of pies and coffee. There will also be a bazaar table.

Barnesville Middle School Book Fair Nov. 26-30
The Barnesville High School Book Fair will be held November 26-30. The book fair will be open during Family Night on Nov. 29 from 6-8 p.m. The them is One World, Many Stories.
PERI meeting Nov. 14
PERI Chapter #79 of Belmont County will hold their November meeting on November 14th rather than November 21st as originally scheduled. The change is due to Thanksgiving falling on the 22nd.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 10:30 a.m. at the J.B. Martin Center in St. Clairsville. Election of officers for 2013 will be held.
Election Day Soup Supper at Centerville
The Centerville Senior Center will serve Soup and Sandwiches on Election Day, November 6 from 11 AM to 6:30 PM. They will feature Ham and Bean Soup with Cornbread and Chicken Noodle Soup, Vegetable Soup. They will have sandwiches and hot dogs, and a great selection of desserts. Union Local Jets Girls Basketball Turkey Bingo
The Union Local Jets Girls basketball team will be sponsoring a Turkey Bingo on November, 15 at 7 p.m. in the high school commons. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Cost is $5 for a Master Card and $1 for each additional card. There will be 20 games with the final game being a coverall worth $100. Turkey Bingo Fund raiser November 11
The Barnesville High School Girls Basketball team will be hosting a Turkey Bingo event on Sunday November 11th at 1pm at the Barnesville ELKS. Doors open at 12:30 pm. Come play for turkeys, prizes, and chinese auction. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Annual Turkey Bingo at Centerville
The Annual Turkey Bingo will be held at the Smith Township Community Center, (old Centerville School) on Saturday, November 3 with twenty games played for turkey. Each player required to have a Master Card. The doors will open at 5 PM with the Bingo Games beginning at 7 PM. A food table will be available featuring Hot Chicken Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Sloppy Joes, Noodles, Nachos and Cheese, with many kinds of desserts. The evening will feature a raffle table and door prizes. Bingo is sponsored by the Smith Township Community Center Committee to raise money for operating costs of the building. 5 Loaves Food Ministry opening Oct. 27
The 5 Loaves Food Ministry, to be offered twice monthly in the basement of the First Christian Church of Barnesville, is opening Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a free soup luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. in the New Life Center. In November, it will be open on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22 from 1-3 p.m., with a free Thanksgiving dinner beginning at noon in the New Life Center. Election Day book and bake sale
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, the adult book discussion group of the Bethesda Public Library will sponsor their annual book and bake sale starting at 9 a.m. at Sheps Transmission Shop, across from the municipal building. Items for sale and carry-out include a variety of baked goods, homemade vegetable soup, sloppy Joes and hot chicken sandwiches. Used books and videos will also be for sale.
If anyone would like to donate food for the sale, it can be dropped off at Sheps at 9 a.m. on the Nov. 6.

OGrady Memorial Scholarship Fund raffle tickets
50/50 raffle tickets are being sold to benefit the James M. OGrady Memorial Scholarship Fund. Jim taught math and was a guidance counselor at Union Local High School, and he also taught Drivers Education to countless people over the years. The scholarship is awarded to a Union Local High School senior who is attending Ohio University and majoring in education or a math-related field. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Recycling fundraiser benefits sports teams
McGee Recycling has teamed up with Shamrock athletics to start a recycling fund raiser. If you would like to donate your aluminum cans, drop them off to McGee Recycling at 475 Watt Avenue. Tell them you are donating them to the Shamrock sports team of your choice, and at the end of the season the team will get a check for the total amount of cans donated.

Dancing For a Cause
The Dancing For a Cause group r meets each Thursday from 6-7 p.m. in the Grange Hall on Shamrock Drive. People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join them. They learn a new dance each week, but also review learned dances. All money collected is donated to local organizations. Past donations have been made to the Barnesville Elementary School for school supplies, a meals on a wheels program and the summer lunch program. For more information, call Rodona Dunfee.

Attention area military veterans: R. Jeremy Harrison, MSW, LICSW, Social Worker at the Wheeling Vet Center and Iraq War veteran, will be in Barnesville every Thursday from 9:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. at the Veteran Service Commission Office, located at 113 W. Main St. Services include individual, and group counseling for PTSD, substance abuse, depression, and various other readjustment issues endured by combat veterans. Jeremy also provides marital/family therapy, bereavement therapy, hospital referrals and enrollment, benefit questions, among other services.
