Barnesville Alumni Banquet July 10
The annual Barnesville Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, July 10 in the high school cafeteria. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Cost $15 per person.
The following five-year reunion classes are planning to attend: 1935, 1940, 1945, 1950, 1955 and 1960 having their 50-year reunion. The class of 1965 will meet later in the summer but several members plan to attend the banquet along with the 1970 class, the last class to graduate from the high school building on West Church Street. Union Local FFA square dance Feb. 20
The Union Local FFA Alumni will sponsor a square dance on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Smith Township Community Center in Centerville. Music by Deep Down Country.
Ohio Valley Emmaus gathering Feb. 19
The Ohio Valley Emmaus community will hold its monthly gathering on February 19 at Lincoln Avenue Methodist Church in Shadyside, Ohio at 7:30 p.m. A covered-dish dinner will be followed by a time of worship and fellowship with members of the community. The gathering is open to all who wish to attend.
Baseball parents meeting Feb. 25
There will be a mandatory baseball meeting for all parents on Feb. 25 at 6:30 in the BHS cafeteria to finalize all the details for the Race for Rox event in March. Everyone is encouraged to attend. BHS Class of '55 meets
The BHS Class of 55 will hold an alumni meeting on Tuesday, March 2 at noon at Sandra Johnson's home, 758 E. Main Street. Lunch will be provided. All class members are urged to attend to plan the 55th reunion.
BFD fish fry March 12
The Barnesville Fire Department will hold a fish fry on March 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for supper, at the Barnesville Fire Department, 125 East Church Street. Dinner is $6 and includes a sandwich, coleslaw and fries. Sandwich alone is $3. Call ahead for delivery at 425-3054 or 425-3368.
Boys Basketball Tournament at Bellaire High School
The Bellaire Sports Foundation will hold a 5/6 (combined) grade boy's Basketball Tournament on Friday, Feb. 26, Saturday, Feb. 27, Sunday, Feb. 28 and Monday, March 1. (Scheduling conflicts may be worked out.) The entry fee will be $75 with a guarantee of three games. Awards for first and second place teams and individuals will be awarded. Wheeling Civic Garden Center requesting donations
Wheeling Civic Garden Center, Oglebay Park, is requesting donations of items for its annual "Jumble Sale, (an indoor yard sale) which is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 19, 20, and 21. The center would be grateful for donations of jewelry, books, kitchen articles, odd dishes and glasses, games and puzzles, tools, odds and ends. Items can be brought to the Garden Center through March 17. If you have a ton of items to donate, call the Garden Center at (304) 242-0665 and they will be happy to help you. This sale benefits the garden center, a non-profit organization, and your donations help to maintain this cultural and educational organization.
Flushing Garden Club to attend show
On March 3, 2010 several members of the Flushing Garden Club plan to travel to Columbus to attend the Home and Garden Show. Those members planning to go should meet at the Flushing Methodist Church parking lot by 9:45 a.m. We will visit the show and then stop for supper on the way back to Flushing.
Longaberger bingo presale tickets
Marcie's Militia Relay for Life team will host a Longaberger Bingo on Sunday, March 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Seating is limited, so purchase tickets today. Presale tickets: $18 donation or $20 at the door. Featured baskets will include: 2010 Shamrock Basket, OSU basket and other new and retired baskets. There will be 15 games in all, plus additional door prizes and raffles. Belmont County Fair Housing Board meets
The Belmont County Fair Housing Board announces its meeting times for the year 2010.
The Fair Housing Board will hold its regular monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month commencing at 1 p.m. at the Port Authority Office located at 121 Newell Avenue, St. Clairsville.

Alzheimer's Support Group meeting Feb. 23

Class of 1950 meets again in April
There will be no class luncheon January, February or March.
The next luncheon will be the third Friday on April at noon at Annie K's.
JITH raffle to benefit toy drive
The Eastern Ohio Charity Association is also raffling two, four-day passes to Jamboree in the Hills, to raise money for next year's toy drive. Tickets ate $1 each and may be obtained at Freebird Motoworx or from an Eastern Ohio Charity Association member.
Airport Authority meeting
The regular meeting of the Belmont County Regional Airport Authority will be held each month on the first Tuesday. The meeting will take place at the Barnesville Water Department at 6 p.m.
WIC walk-in clinics
The Belmont County WIC program will sponsor walk-in clinics on Tuesdays in St. Clairsville and on Wednesdays in Bellaire. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Barnesville hours are the second Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ohio Hills Health Services, 110 E. Main St.
New clients need proof of address, proof of income and identification such as a drivers license or a social security card. Crib cards will be accepted for newborns. Clients who need recertified will need proof of income and their WIC folders. Also, a written authorization from a parent/guardian to have a child receive WIC services is needed if a parent/guardian is not with a child at the time of recertification. Belmont County WIC is having open enrollment the months of May and June. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breastfeeding and provides education to its clients. Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, infants and children up to the age of five qualify. Working families are encouraged to apply. For more information call 695-0222 or 676-2232.
BBM Rotary meets
The Bethesda-Belmont-Morristown Rotary Club dinner meeting is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Bethesda Senior Center. The meeting is now being catered by Mark Glass from the Bethesda Market.
