Victorian Tea at Mansion Museum

As part of the Christmas celebration at the Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum , 532 N. Chestnut Street, Barnesville the Belmont County Historical Society will present a tea on Friday, Dec. 4. There will be two sittings, one at 11 a.m. and the second one at 2 p.m. Reservations are required. The fee is $15. The tour fee is extra. Belmont Career Center parent-teacher conferences Nov. 24

The Belmont Career Center will hold parent-teacher conferences Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Conference appointment forms were sent home with students on Nov. 13, to be returned by Nov. 20. Teacher conference forms were distributed through English and Social Studies classes and the Special Needs Resource Center. Parents and guardians are asked to indicate a time they would be able to attend a conference and with whom they wish to confer.

Parents of current 10th grade students in schools in Belmont and Harrison counties are also invited to visit the Career Center for an open house. Students who are considering enrollment in career-technical classes for the 2009-2010 school year, along with their parents are invited to visit and talk with staff.

Instructors will be available to answer questions, show labs and respond to concerns of prospective students and parents.

BHS Class of 1950 meets Nov. 20

The Class of 1950 will hold luncheon at Annie K's on Nov. 20, at 12 p.m. The 60 year class reunion is coming up and class members are welcome at the luncheon.

Pennyroyal Opera House show Nov. 20

The Pennyroyal Opera House in Fairview, Ohio will have a bluegrass show on Friday, Nov. 20 featuring Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out. Opening the show will be Muddy Krick Mountain Boys.

The kitchen will be open at 5 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m.

The Pennyroyal Opera House is located off I-70 at exit 198.

Woodsfield Christmas Festival

The 4th annual Woodsfield Christmas Festival will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 in Woodsfield, Ohio. Merchants will be participating in a Window Decorating Contest and we will have a Festival of Lights at the City Park and end the day with a parade, Community Open House and Christmas Dinner/Dance.

The fun filled day will start at 8 a.m. with the Breakfast with Santa and continuing with many activities planned throughout the day including, Santa's Workshop, Craft Show at Courthouse, Carriage Rides, Barrel Train Rides, Christmas Character passing out candy canes, specials and refreshments to area businesses, specials at area restaurants, Christmas Caroling, Live Nativity Scene, Parade at 6 p.m. and ending with a Community Open House at the Brown Community Center.

Barnesville Football Moms officer election Dec. 9

Fresh greens workshop Dec. 3

Wheeling Civic Garden Center, Oglebay Park, will present a workshop entitled Fresh Green Arrangements and Wreaths on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 10:30 a.m.

Come join us for this holiday tradition. We will be instructing on how to create fresh noble fir wreaths and mixed pine arrangements. We will adorn with bows, berries, candles, birds, and any other accessory that might brighten your holiday table arrangement or wreath. Your $25 deposit must be paid by Nov. 23 to ensure your spot and available materials. Your total cost may vary according to materials selected. There is a $3 charge for non-members of the center. Airport Authority meeting

The regular meeting of the Belmont County Regional Airport Authority will be held on the first Tuesday of December and each month thereafter on the first Tuesday of each month . The meeting will take place at the Barnesville Water Department at 6 p.m.

Hospital auxiliary bake sale

The Barnesville Hospital Auxiliary will be sponsoring a bake sale on Friday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. in the main lobby.

Charity toy drive begins

Now through Dec. 5, there is a challenge between Barnesville Elementary and Union Local Elementary on collecting toys. The school that collects the most toys will receive a plaque and the top class of each school will receive a pizza party. Toys can be dropped off at Freebird Motoworx in Barnesville or Belmont Savings Bank in Barnesville. Toys can also be picked up by calling (740) 619-0069 or (740) 238-0302. The toys will go to Belmont County Job and Family Services - Children Services.

Salvation Army bell ringers needed

The Salvation Army of Belmont County is now recruiting individuals and/or groups to volunteer to ring bells at their Christmas Kettles throughout Belmont County. Volunteers are needed for The Salvation Army Giving Tree and gift wrapping at the Ohio Valley Mall. Also needed are volunteers to purchase gifts/toys for children for Christmas. Fall turkey shoot Nov. 22

A Fall Turkey Shoot plus 22 caliber shoot for kids eight and up will be held at the Wharton's Sportsmen's Club west of Barnesville, Ohio on Nov. 22 from noon until 5 p.m. A drawing for guns will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. Turn out for previous turkey shoots has been good and organizers appreciate those who attended. Participants are welcome.

Bethesda VFW cinch tournaments

Nursing Moms' Group serves mothers who are, have, and are planning or considering breastfeeding with support and information. Questions are always welcomed which are discussed among experienced mothers and answered by Jean Cooper, co-organizer and Lactation Consultant from East Ohio Regional Hospital.

Public Employee Retirees, Inc. meeting

The Belmont County Chapter 79 of the Public Employee Retirees, Inc. meet Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the J.B Martin Recreation Center located at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Election of officers will be held at 10:30 a.m.

WIC walk-in clinics

The Belmont County WIC program will sponsor walk-in clinics on Tuesdays in St. Clairsville and on Wednesdays in Bellaire. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Barnesville hours are the second Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ohio Hills Health Services, 110 E. Main St.

New clients need proof of address, proof of income and identification such as a drivers license or a social security card. Crib cards will be accepted for newborns. Clients who need recertified will need proof of income and their WIC folders. Also, a written authorization from a parent/guardian to have a child receive WIC services is needed if a parent/guardian is not with a child at the time of recertification. Belmont County WIC is having open enrollment the months of May and June. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breastfeeding and provides education to its clients. BBM Rotary meets

The Bethesda-Belmont-Morristown Rotary Club dinner meeting is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Bethesda Senior Center. The meeting is now being catered by Mark Glass from the Bethesda Market.
