Legion meeting changed

Due to the Labor Day holiday on the regular meeting date, the Belmont American Legion Post 312 is deferring the Sept. meeting date to Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the post home on Barrister St.

All members are invited to attend as well as any veterans wishing to join.

3C's Cancer Support Group meets

The 3C's Cancer Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 14 at Barnesville Senior Citizens Center. All members and public invited to attend.

Belmont County Retired Teachers Association meets

Belmont County Retired Teacher Association will meet Sept. 10, at the Belmont Hills Country Club. The meeting will begin at noon with guest speaker Belmont County Commissioner Ginny Favede. Members are requested to bring items for "Tools for Schools." Reservations must be made to Joan Russell by Sept. 5. Election of officers for 2010-2011 will be held.

Texas Hold'Em Tournament Oct. 17

A Texas Hold'Em Tournament will be sponsored by the Barnesville Football Moms Organization on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Barnesville American Legion Hall. Entry fee is $50 and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Barnesville Football Moms Organization. For more information, please contact any Barnesville Football Mom Officer.

Grandparents Supports Children's Kids Rights

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be told you could never see your grandchildren again? How would you feel? What would they think? It can happen! That's why we need laws to protect the rights of grandparents and even great grandparents.

This is you invitation to come join us and our cause. We offer emotional support and friendship. We listen to and hear other stories and offer hope to one another.

We are meeting Tuesday, Sept. 15 (This will be our last meeting before our DUCK Launch). So mark you calendars. We will be meeting at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in the cafeteria at 7 p.m. These are very important meetings, as we will be finalizing plans for our DUCK Launch on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. The DUCK Launch will be held at the River Park in Moundsville. BHS Class of 1957

The BHS Class of 1957 will meet for breakfast on the regular second Saturday of September and also the Saturday morning of Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. at Annie K's.

The members of the Flushing Garden Club will be going on Sept. 23, 2009 (note date change) to The Farm Restaurant for their annual Installation dinner. All members who are going are to meet at the Flushing Methodist Church parking lot at 5:00 p.m. and then will caravan to the restaurant. The hostesses for the evening will be the Officers. Gina Marinucci will read the devotions. Club members will answer roll call by naming the garden fertilizer that they like most to use on their gardens. The program titled "Down on the Farm" best natural fertilizer will be read by Barb Cencula. The three minute flower of the month on "Joe Pye Weed" will be read by Sara O'dorizzi. Beth Rushton and Gina Marinucci are in charge of planting the mums in the pots at the park and city building. The tour to Creekside Gardens has been canceled.

Square dance Sept. 17

WesBanco Barnesville is again hosting a wonderful evening of old-fashioned fun at a Square Dance on Sept. 17 (Thursday night prior to Pumpkin Festival) from 7-10 p.m. Pickn' on Country will provide the music. Chuck Monticello will be the square dance caller.

The Senior Citizen Center across the street will be having a Chicken BBQ prior to the dance, from 4-7 p.m.

Approximately 400 people attended last year's square dance.

Airport Authority meeting Sept. 14

The regular meeting of the Belmont County Airport Authority will be held Monday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. at the airport.

Hospital uniform sale Sept. 18

The Barnesville Hospital Auxiliary will be sponsoring a Uniform Sale on Friday, Sept. 18 from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Classroom.

Barnesville Legion Aux. Post 168 will hold it organizational meeting Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Post. All members are encouraged to attend.

BHS Class of 74 reunion will be held Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Barnesville American Legion. Please bring a covered dish and beverages will be provided.

St. Mary's Fulda Picnic Homecoming Sept. 7

St. Mary's Fulda Picnic Homecoming will be held on Monday, Sept. 7. Homestyle chicken and beef dinners will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be games and refreshments all afternoon with a round and square dance from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. by "Little Creek Band". The public is cordially invited.

St. Mary's is located on CR 15 in Fulda, off SR 564, six miles east of Caldwell. Signs will be posted.

WIC walk-in clinics

The Belmont County WIC program will sponsor walk-in clinics on Tuesdays in St. Clairsville and on Wednesdays in Bellaire. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Barnesville hours are the second Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ohio Hills Health Services, 110 E. Main St.

New clients need proof of address, proof of income and identification such as a drivers license or a social security card. Crib cards will be accepted for newborns. Clients who need recertified will need proof of income and their WIC folders. Also, a written authorization from a parent/guardian to have a child receive WIC services is needed if a parent/guardian is not with a child at the time of recertification. Belmont County WIC is having open enrollment the months of May and June. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breastfeeding and provides education to its clients. Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, infants and children up to the age of five qualify. Working families are encouraged to apply. For more information call 695-0222 or 676-2232.

The Belmont County Chapter 79 of the Public Employee Retirees, Inc. meet on the third Wednesday of every other month at the J.B. Martin Recreation Center located at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, St. Clairsville, OH.

BBM Rotary meets

The Bethesda-Belmont-Morristown Rotary Club dinner meeting is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Bethesda Senior Center. The meeting is now being catered by Mark Glass from the Bethesda Market.
