Ohio University Eastern Campus will be hosting the final round of the 2nd annual Shark Challenge, an event focused on creating innovative ideas in the Ohio Valley, on Tuesday, March 28, at 6:00 p.m.
The event, which is part of a number of community related activities leading up to OUE's 60th Anniversary Gala this fall, is being sponsored by TechGROWTH Ohio. TMI Hospitality (Residence Inn) and Murray Energy are also providing support for the event.
Four area colleges have advanced to the final round: Eastern Gateway Community College, coached by Dr. Karen Spindler; Belmont College, coached by William Knox CPA; Ohio University Zanesville, coached by Dr. Darci Wagner; and Ohio University Eastern, coached by Dr. Sarah Mahan-Hays.
The panel of judges for the event includes Denise Penz, Executive Director of Wealth Management, Premier Bank; David McCarley, CEO/Managing Partner of Water Remediation Services, LLC; and Megan Cook, COO, Mustang Oilfield Services.
Dr. Paul Abraham, Dean of Ohio University Eastern, is enthusiastic about the prospects of this year's event. "This event allows students to pitch a business idea in a scholastic environment while contributing to the support of the region's economic revitalization. With the success of last year's event, I am excited to see what the OUE Shark Challenge has in store for this year."
The first place team will receive a prize of $1,000 while the second place team will receive a prize of $500.
