BMS students raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital during Math-a-thon this week

Published:

The Barnesville Middle School will be participating in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Math-a-thon December 17-20. The Math-a-thon is America’s largest education-based fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Students will be getting pledges from sponsors to participate in the Math-a-thon, starting the week of December 10th. Sponsors can either donate per question the student gets correct or just one rate donation.

On December 17th, students will be completing math problems in their Math Funbook, which is grade appropriate and designed according to the national math standards. Students have until December 20th to complete as many problems as are able to answer. Students then will be checking their problems with their math teacher to see how many questions they get correct. Students will then have until January 7th to collect all donations from their sponsors. Students have a chance to win prizes and save lives by raising money and completing math problems.

The middle school is attempting to raise $5,000 to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please join us and support our students to help children fighting life-threatening diseases. If anyone would like to sponsor a student or donate to help the middle school reach our goal please visit www.mathathon.org or contact Natasha Shilling at (740) 425-3615 ext 4102 or natasha.shilling@omeresa.net. Donations will be accepted until January 7, 2013.
