School Funding

Published:

I believe that we the people of the valley do have some excellent schools. If anyone has lived in a urban big city school district, you have found out how bad schools can be.

How do we pay for the schools? Currently we are using the traditional tax model, which is O.K., but the Ohio Supreme Court struck that method down 4 times in the 1990s as unconstitutional and no one in charge has come up with a new way of paying for the schools.

So what are we telling folks, that the current unconstitutional method is O.K. because with all of the brain power and legislative might that we have, no one can figure out how to fund schools in a constitutionally acceptable fashion? So are we telling the leader of tomorrow, our children, that court rulings don't really matter?

Why hasn't the leaders of our schools come up with a new method? If these leaders can't figure out a new method for funding the school, then they should step down and allow people who can figure this problem out.
