Weatherization and Stimulus Money

Published:

Winter is coming and there is little we can do about that. Congress pledged part of the economic stimulus money for the weatherization programs that we get though our Community Action Commission (CAC).

This is a perfect fit for what the economic stimulus money that was proposed to be spent. This program fit the definition of "shovel ready" programs. This weatherization program with the stimulus money would create jobs and buy materials, causing money to be infused into our local economy.

The big worry is the number of people who's income fall within the CAC's guidelines. This includes unemployed, under employed, seniors and handicapped people who need for their homes to warm and their energy bills to be manageable.

As that this program would create jobs, help suppliers of materials and most of all help those who need this service, I highly recommend that the people of the area contact Congressman Charlie Wilson and ask for him to intervene to get these monies moving to our area.
