I am very disenchanted with a great deal of the electorate in this country. We were promised change and it doesn't seem to be going in a positive direction.
All different levels of government are now finding the we don't have the money to do things that were promised. Government officials get pay raises when others don't have jobs any longer.
Our banks took government handout, but are not giving their clientle a break on interest rates and in some cases raising fees.
It is now being predicted that the people in the investment industry are going get even bigger bonus packages than ever before, but who is going to help the families that lost their retirement savings? I don't think they are getting any kind of bonus.
We all know the problems that our country is going through, so we should be proactive in our politics. Whether it be Republicans or Democrats, new people who claim they are for change or the "good old boys" and their political machines, they should all be put out on the streets to see how people are living these days. In fact we should have a clean sweep of all elected officials. There is no more money out there, people are tired of the same old situations, so what does that leave us? The "power" is with the people of this country, not the elected officials.
The people we elect should be the highest caliber person that we can find, no bankrupt people ending up being the community financial leader, no supervisory personnel that have DUIs, just honest plain old folks is what we need.
If a candidate really is serious about wanting to serve in public office, maybe they should post a surety bond of $1,000,000 per every 1,000 constituents for each promise. There would be two factors in this to show how faithful such candidates would be, the candidate posting such a surety bond and finding an insurance company that would underwrite that bond.
