I watched with hope last election on the outcome of the vote on the swiss hills levy vote.The people of Monroe county should be commended on their yes vote for the levy.As a child I grew up in Somerton and watched the demise of a small community when it lost it's school.Bitter feelings were generated by the closing of the school out on the Ridge.Accomplished educators of the children of Somerton and the community were cast aside in the name of progress.Ida Gibbons,Sally Fisher,George Brown,Fred "Fritz" Stephen,and Art Monahan,were all quite talented in the process of educating the Hope of tomorrow.They gave their all not only with the lessons of the three R's but also in the lessons of life.Thank goodness some of them continued teaching in the school system for years to come.David Leach
