Preparing Our Children for the Future

Published:

I have noted that the schools do not really have forward looking people in-charge of the curriculum.

If you go to Walmart or many of the box stores, you find that the bulk of the products are made in China. When you go your local stores, you will see many items that are made in China in those stores also.

As that we are moving for a more unified world, we should be preparing our children to live in that world. This "one world" or globalization isn't something that popped up over night, it has been going on since the 1950s, we just haven't seen it happening.

Our children need to have more education in different cultures, the sciences and mathematics. English is the language of commerce, but the Chinese have the industrial potential to dominate the world. The Chinese are teaching their people English, but we need to teach out people to speak Chinese.

I think a good assignment for students would be to take a field trip to different stores, then make lists of where merchandise comes from. After returning to their class rooms, compare the lists that they have made, most will be surprised.
