Barnesville Girls Youth (2nd-8th grade)Softball recently held an Opening Day at Barnesville Memorial Park. Each of the ten teams scrimmaged each other that day.
The league was fortunate enough, to replace the catcher's gear for each team due to generous local sponsorship and donations. The teams are looking forward to this season, which begins Monday, May 18th at 6pm at the park. Six teams will face each other on the three fields that night. There are also games on Tuesday, May 18th at 6pm and 8pm on the Big Field. There will also be a game played at 6pm on the Somerton field.
The ten sponsored teams will be playing Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, they are: Barnesville Fire Department, Belmont Savings Bank, Chel's, Ltd., Defelice Bros. Pizza, Emerald Pointe, Home Pizza, Riesbeck's Food Markets, Skinner Ins., Wesbanco, and Wrenches. Catcher's gear sponsors include Barnesville Vision Center, BPOE (Elks #1699) Riesbecks, and Triple B. The league also received donations from Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Hissom's Service Center, Kemp Insurance, and KFC.
