Salute to Service set for Sept. 9
Jim and Sue Patron are extending a warm and heartfelt invitation to all military, law enforcement, firefighters and paramedics, as they have set aside Saturday, September 9, 2017 as the day all these men and women will be shown the appreciation they so deserve. They are reaching out to all who are active duty, retired, veterans, wounded warriors, and families of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. They encourage not only these uniformed men and women, but their families, friends, and communities to share in this special day.
The program will be held at Union Local Middle School Auditorium and will begin at 11 a.m. They ask that as a military service member, first responder, family member, or friend of one of these men and women, to please share a photo short story, or other memorabilia about you or your loved one's service. These will be displayed the day of the program for all to share.
To protect and serve sounds crazy to most, but to those who put their lives in harm's way every day, it is in their blood. It is what they believe in. It is their calling. It is not just what they do for a living, it defines who they are.
A couple hours on a Saturday morning to some, may seem unreasonable to give. These men and women have and continue to give hours, days, years, their lives in serving those they love and for the love of country, and communities.
Let's make this day a day to show the appreciation for all they do and have done. Times are becoming more and more troubling. Not only for us as adults, but for our children and grandchildren. We live in communities and a country that is the best by far. Let's join our military and first responders in making each day better than the day before. Let's come together as "One Nation Under God" and be thankful for all we have received and continue to receive.
